Abstract:

Introduction. This study was designed to measure the attitude of the medical students’ of Jahrom school of medical sciences in basic and clinical stages and the approach they have to their course of study and future occupation. Methods. A Questionnaire was handed out in which some items such as sex, final high school scores, term average scores, patient’s education and the assigned students were considered. 85 students completed the questionnaires. Results. The obtained results were passive viewpoints towards the medical fields and it was considerably rigid during the basic course and also it was clear that the males and the students with low scores were more passive (P<.05). About %51.3 of the students were interested in continuing their study towards specialty and % 49.7 declared that after graduation they would go to some other Job- markets such as free – business, dealing affairs, real – state and so on. Most of the students (%54.1) declared that if they possibly attended the entrance exam (conquer) again they surely would select other field of study such as pharmacology, dentistry, engineering and arts other than pure medicine. Conclusion. Regarding the high expenses of training a general practitioner, the attitude towards the free market on behalf of the students is a point of disaster. This study also shows that the medical students are deeply concerned about their future, so that, they can’t concentrate fully on what they read and study. Mean while, this aspect of the mentioned point must deeply be taken into consideration for future educational programs.
